PPU Types

PILATUS Processing Units are available in two different configurations, namely the PPU XL and a trimmed-down version, the PPU mini. The PPU XL provides stable and highly reliable high-speed data transfer. Furthermore, this PPUs also features large storage capacities for sustained high data-acquisition rates as well as massive computing performance for efficient data analysis. In contrast to that, the PPU mini focuses on stable and highly reliable high-speed data transfer without the additional benefits of its larger sibling in the PPU family.

PPU XL

PILATUS3 detector systems are capable of acquiring an enormous amount of data in very short time. Sustained data acquisition at high rates poses significant challenges for data storage and processing. This is what the PPU system XL was designed for. It provides an easy and reliable solution to these challenges and fulfill the needs of high-performance beamlines equipped with the latest PILATUS3 detectors.

PPU mini

All PILATUS3 systems of the M-Series include a PPU mini to ensure stable high-speed data transfer to an external storage (i.e. beamline storage). If additional computing and storage resources are needed, we recommend to upgrade to the PPU system XL.
