With an area of 233 by 245 mm2 and more than ten million pixels, the EIGER X 9M collects superior data from macromolecular crystals. Not surprisingly, the first publication and also the first structure in the Protein Data Bank solved with EIGER X 9M data was published in Nature. Pharmaceutical crystallographers and contract crystallography companies additionally value the unique combination of high resolution and speed with a relatively modest image size, which allows for quick processing and efficient data transfer.

The EIGER X 9M can be operated in region-of-interest mode where a section of four million pixels are read out at up to 750 Hz. This allows for the rapid screening of large grids even with the smallest beams. Diffraction data can then be collected from identified crystals with the full area of the detector.
