This detector is ideal for experiments where a large number of pixels is not essential for the success of the experiment, e.g. when following crystal truncation rods in surface X-ray diffraction or when a single Bragg peak needs to be followed during a time-resolved experiment. The PILATUS3 X 100K-A provides all advantages of Hybrid Photon Counting technology as an easy-to-use, service- and maintenance-free detector system. It exhibits a continuous active area of 83.8 x 33.5 mm2 and allows to measure diffraction and scattering data up to 500Hz. Air-cooled and fully media-free, the PILATUS3 R 100K-A is the easiest-to-operate PILATUS detector and it is DECTRIS’ most affordable 2D synchrotron detector system. More than 500 systems in operation prove the flexible and successful usage of the 100K HPC detectors around the world. Like all other PILATUS3 X systems, it outperforms other counting detectors with a maximum count rate of more than 10 million counts per second and pixel at 12 keV. This ensures accurate data even when measuring strongly diffracting samples with the brightest sources. The radiation-hard design of PILATUS3 has proven its robustness at many synchrotron beamlines, providing a highly reliable detector family.
