DECTRIS during the coronavirus pandemic: Protecting employees and supporting customers & partners

As governments direct resources to manage the COVID-19 pandemic, we at DECTRIS also have clear goals: to protect our employees and support our customers and partners. Thanks to online tools and flexible work methods, we can carry our social responsibility without compromising service levels.

On Friday, March 13, the Swiss federal government closed all schools; most other public and private gathering places have been shut down since midnight, March 17. The keyword is social distancing, and the goal is to slow down the spread of the disease. This is the only way the healthcare system can handle the increased burden. DECTRIS has kept up with the official recommendations, and our appointed pandemic team continues to monitor the situation and to update company policies as needed. We want to protect our employees, customers and partners, their loved ones, and the society around us. That includes both adapting the home office practice and making DECTRIS a safe place to work.

New workflows to stay safe and yet responsive

Many DECTRIS employees started working remotely in February as the news of the potential dangers of the virus came out; many more have moved to home office since then as the Swiss government has updated its measures. Employees reduce their infection risk by staying home, and remote work gives parents the flexibility to be with their children during the day.

Increased home office also benefits the people who work in the office: the few in-house employees are distributed throughout the DECTRIS headquarters for maximum distance. We have adjusted the cleaning routines, provided additional protective gear, shifted from self-service buffet to served lunches, rearranged furniture to enforce physical distance, and provided vehicles and parking spaces for commuters to avoid public transportation – to name a few actions. All the measures as well as cooperation of all the employees will help us to secure the key functions of the company.

Customers and partners stay a priority

These measures do not prevent us from serving our customers and partners well. Our support team members are based both in Switzerland and the United States, and we are used to working together regardless of physical location. This means our support engineers continue to answer questions and assist our customers as effectively as always. Meanwhile, the DECTRIS production team is going an extra mile to preempt any possible future productivity losses. Furthermore, our application scientists are available for consultation, whether you are an existing customer or someone curious about the world’s best detectors.

We are here for you – don’t hesitate to reach out!
